Surf Camp vs. Private Apartment: The Ultimate Guide to Staying in Taghazout

(Where Should You Book?)

Choosing where to stay in Taghazout depends entirely on your travel goals. If you want a zero-effort, social holiday focusing only on daily surfing, the Surf Berbere All-Inclusive Surf Camp Package is best. If you seek maximum independence, privacy, and flexible dining, a Private Apartment rental is your ideal choice.

At Surf Berbere, we uniquely offer both: the quintessential Moroccan surf camp experience and a portfolio of beautiful private apartments. This guide will walk you through the key differences so you can confidently pick the perfect home base for your Taghazout adventure.

Option 1: The All-Inclusive Surf Camp Experience

The Surf Camp is the classic choice for a reason—it removes all the stress of trip planning. It’s a structured, communal experience where your only job is to surf, eat, and relax.

What’s Included in the Surf Berbere Camp Package?

  • Accommodation: Your stay in our lively, sea-view accommodation right on the beach at Hash Point. Choose from private or shared rooms.
  • Meals: Complete full board, including a big breakfast, beach delivered freshly prepared lunch, and a hearty, tasty dinner every evening in a fun communal environment.
  • Surf Tuition & Guiding: Daily lessons tailored to your skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) with certified local instructors.
  • Equipment: All necessary surf equipment (boards and wetsuits) is included for the duration of your stay.
  • Extras: Daily sunset yoga sessions and hassle-free, round-trip airport transfers from Agadir (AGA).

Who Is the Surf Camp Best For?

  • Solo Travelers: Guaranteed to meet people and find immediate community and surf buddies.
  • Beginners: The structure, included gear, and daily guidance eliminate all planning stress.
  • First-Time Visitors to Morocco: Safety, local knowledge, and logistics are entirely managed for you.
  • Travelers on a Fixed Budget: One upfront price covers nearly everything, making budgeting simple.

Option 2: The Private Apartment Stay

If you prefer freedom, self-catering, and your own space to retreat, a private apartment is your best bet. It offers a more independent, home-away-from-home holiday here in Taghazout.

Key Features of Surf Berbere Apartment Rentals

  • Privacy & Space: Our selection ranges from intimate studios ideal for couples to multi-room units like the popular Bouad House, perfect for larger groups and families.
  • Facilities: Full kitchen access allows you to manage your own meals, great for those with dietary restrictions or who enjoy cooking local produce.
  • Location: All properties are centrally located in Taghazout, often within a short walk of well known surf spots like Anchor Point and Panoramas.
  • Optional Extras: You can build your own holiday by adding surf lessons, guiding, or airport transfers à la carte, giving you total control.

Who Is the Private Apartment Best For?

  • Experienced Surfers: Seeking flexibility to check multiple spots and chase the swell without a fixed schedule.
  • Groups/Families: Needing the comfort of separate rooms and private communal living areas.
  • Digital Nomads/Long-Term Stays: Value self-catering, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a stable environment for remote work.
  • Couples: Those prioritizing quiet time and independence over a communal atmosphere.

✈️ Logistical Considerations: Making the Trip Easy

One of the biggest anxieties for first-time visitors is travel logistics in Morocco. Surf Berbere simplifies this for both types of stays:

Getting to Taghazout

We recommend flying into Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA). This is key: all our multi-day Surf Camp Packages have the option to include round-trip airport transfers. For Apartment guests, we are happy to arrange reliable, safe private transfers at an excellent rate as well (small groups it’s just 30 euros, larger groups can also be accommodated for a small additional charge).

Surfing Access and Gear

In the Surf Camp, all your equipment is provided daily. If you book an Apartment, gear can be rented affordably directly from the Surf Berbere surf shop, just 50 meters away from the Bouad House apartments, and we can arrange guiding/lessons on a daily basis.
